Children in EYFS (Reception) and KS1 (Year 1 & 2) are entitled to have a hot school meal for free under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.

Children in KS2 (Years 3 – 6) can order a school meal for £3.00 per day which should be paid for on Arbor in advance.

Children are able to bring a packed lunch if they prefer but the standard of our school meals is very good and we are proud of the high uptake.

Please ensure that you keep your child’s Arbor record updated with any dietary requirements or food intolerances. A vegetarian/vegan option will be available each day as standard.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium

Free school meals are also available to KS2 children in certain circumstances. Please see Leicestershire County Council’s Free School Meals webpages below for details of eligibility and how to apply.

If your child is in EYFS or KS1 and receives universal infant free school meals but you would also qualify under the Free School Meals scheme, please do register for the scheme as the School will then receive Pupil Premium funding so we can better support your child. There is a leaflet below which explains this funding.

Currently, all children registered under the Free School Meals scheme also receive food vouchers worth £15.00 per week during holiday periods. Please note, this does NOT apply to children receiving Universal Infant Free School Meals.

Sandwiches

Some children bring a packed lunch from home. In order to promote eating healthily and to safeguard children with allergies, the following are NOT allowed in children’s lunchboxes:

  • fizzy drinks
  • peanut butter sandwiches or any snack containing nuts.

Drinks:

Water

Water is available for all children at lunchtimes and children are encouraged to bring a bottle containing water only, for refreshment during the school day.

School Milk

School Milk is provided by ‘Cool Milk(opens in new tab)‘ and parents can register online. Please register by a Tuesday, to start the following week. Milk is completely free for all children aged under five (until the Friday before the child’s 5th birthday) and is subsidised for children aged five or over. Please note that children who receive Free School Meals , are entitled to free milk.
