Extra Curricular Activities

Curriculum Enhancements: Trips and Visits

Trips and visits are a vital part of our curriculum, enriching classroom learning and bringing it to life through real-world experiences. From local walks and museum visits to theatre trips and residentials, our carefully planned programme of educational outings enhances pupils’ understanding across subjects and deepens their connection to the wider world.

These experiences support personal development by building independence, teamwork, curiosity, and confidence. They also provide valuable opportunities to make meaningful links with curriculum content and world events.

Each year group experiences 2 external trips and one in house visit per year. These are all linked to our bespoke curriculum.

Where possible, we also offer visits to places of worship.

We offer an ambitious residential programme for our pupils to develop independence and teamwork. This includes overnight camping on the school field and longer residentials to places such as Derbyshire and Wales.

We believe that learning beyond the classroom helps to inspire lifelong memories and a love of learning for all our children.

Extra Curricular Sports

At Outwoods Edge, we believe sport is a wonderful way for children to grow, learn, and shine beyond the classroom! Our extracurricular sports clubs give every child the chance to try something new, build confidence, and most importantly—have lots of fun!

Our after-school clubs run from 3:15 to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with pick-up from the school office. You’ll find posters in each classroom with details about all the exciting activities on offer, along with information about costs and how to book through the FCS Coaching website.

We’re proud to offer a wide range of sporting events and competitions through our partnership with FCS Coaching. Children have the chance to represent Outwoods Edge in a variety of events, including our mixed Year 5 and 6 Football League, as well as over 15 inclusive sports competitions throughout the year!

These events are open to everyone—whether your child is already passionate about sport or just wants to give something new a go. Practice sessions take place at lunchtime with our friendly FCS coaches, helping pupils prepare, improve their skills, and feel ready to compete with confidence and pride.

Each lunchtime club links with upcoming events, giving children the chance to train, play, and be part of something special. Days may change each half term so that everyone gets a chance to take part and represent our amazing school community.

We can’t wait to see our pupils get active, have fun, and show their Outwoods Edge spirit!
